Referendum: NDC shift could be a stumbling block to government---Abdallah

Chairman of the Constitutional Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ben Abdallah Banda has said the position taken by the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) to push for no in the impending referendum is a shift and could be a tumbling block to government’s agenda.

According to the Offinso South lawmaker the position taken by the Minority NDC would not make the process of referendum useless, but a complete departure from their original position right from the committee level.

“I am surprise this may affect the turn out, but what government is trying to do is good IDEG and the leadership of both side of the House I was there”, he lamented.

As to whether leadership of the Majority has had talks with their counterpart the Minority on the issues he responded yes, IDEG and leadership of the Majority has done talking, but as to whether minds would be changed at the eleventh hour he cannot tell.

If politics at the local level would divide them then we should stop doing politics at the higher level, when it comes to mobilization the parties do it better and should not be left to the individuals.
