The 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, 2025, has successfully passed its second reading in the Parliament of Ghana and has now reached the consideration stage. The update was filed at 5:25 PM.
According to a report from the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs, the bill contains 28 clauses. The proposed programme aims to strengthen Ghana’s national export capacity and address persistent trade imbalances that have hindered economic growth.
The initiative prioritizes expanding exports over imports by systematically enhancing domestic productive capacity and export competitiveness. The report emphasized that the programme will be private sector-driven, aligning with previous governments’ recognition of the private sector as the engine of growth.
The report concluded that the programme’s focus on job creation, skill development, and fostering a culture of productivity is critical for achieving sustainable economic transformation. The committee has recommended that Parliament adopt its report and pass the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, 2025, in accordance with Article 106 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
