Construction works on five community-based health planning services (CHPS) Compounds for five communities in the Upper West Akim Constituency in the Eastern Region are at advanced stages of completion.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Sam Amankwanor who revealed this to Ghanamps.gov.gh said each project consists of OPD, wards office, storage room as well as 2-bedroom self-contain to house staff of the facilities. Beneficiary communities include Nyanoah, Asikasu, Atimtim, Asuotwene-Alafia and Oppong.

Mr. Amankwanor disclosed that most of the communities in the community are deprived of a number of amenities and the only health facility that residents rely on is at Adeiso. He said the stress involved in accessing the facility because of distance among other things make it difficult for most residents to even want to patronize the facility adding that there is even pressure on the existing health facility at Adeiso.

The situation he noted is more critical when it comes to dealing with emergencies which usually lead to unnecessary loss of lives. It is for this reason that the CHPS compounds are being constructed in those selected communities to bring health delivery to the doorstep of the people. He commended the town folks for their communal spirit.
