The Acting Director of Public Affairs of Ghana’s Legislature, Kate Addo has called for media owners to halt a growing trend in Parliament, where Journalists from various media outlets are replaced after a year or two when they are getting grounded in the procedures of the House.
She noted that the longer Journalists stay, the more they become very conversant with precedent and procedures of the House.
Her comment comes in the wake of a day’s workshop organised for Journalist who report from Parliament, by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Public Affairs unit of the House.
According to the Acting Director of Public Affairs, she thought she had a good idea of how Parliament works until she started working in the House and found out that, workings of the House is based on processes and procedures.
“It does not matter how many time you come and go in Parliament, if you do not remember precedents you will not be able to have reference point”, she said.
