Government has assured that it will act on recommendation by the three man committee set up to investigate matters relating to Ghana’s preparation in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and possible lapses which might have caused their early exit from the tournament.
Government believes that a forward- looking inquiry will expose lapses to endanger reforms to improve the organization of Ghana’s participation in future football tournaments.
The committee made up of Justice Senyo Dzamefe(Justice of the Court of Appeal), Mr Moses Foh Amoaning(Lawyer and Sports Administrator) and Mr Kofi Anokye Owusu Darko(Banker and Sports enthusiast) are expected among others to probe treatment of Ghanaian football fans who were sent to support the Black Stars by Ministry of Youth and Sports, advice government on the financing of activities of the Senior National Team and other national teams and also events that took place in Black Stars camp.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga who made this known on the floor of Parliament stated that the Ministerial committee was expected to conclude its work within 30 days of their inauguration after which they present their report to him.
While calling on all stakeholders to cooperate with the committee, Hon. Ayariga was confident that FIFA will not have any objection to Ghana inquiring into its performance with the view to carrying out reforms that will improve the national team, since stronger teams will ensure more exciting FIFA tournaments.
