National Executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have warned losers of last Saturday’s parliamentary primaries who are contemplating contesting as independent candidates to forget about any such intentions, as the party will not waste time in dismissing anyone who decides to go solo.
As it is with such elections, some disgruntled losers eventually decide to contest as independent candidate and one such person who may go solo is the outspoken Legislator, Michael Teye Nyaunu of Lower Manya Krobo who lost to the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi in the parliamentary primaries held over the weekend.
However speaking to Citi News, George Lawson a deputy General Secretary of the NDC in charge of Operations stated that there is the need to present a united NDC front during the upcoming December election.
He said anyone who decides to go independent seizes to be part of the NDC party, adding that the party will swiftly dismiss the individual.
Mr George Lawson noted that efforts will be made to ensure that defeated candidates will not out of sour grapes work against the party but rather they would be brought on board to campaign for an emphatic NDC victory in December.
