The Member of Parliament for Ho West Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has emphasized the need for public files and other documents to be stored electronically.
According to him this will go a long way in preserving public records for future references.
The MP’s comment comes in the wake of the accusation by Deputy Minister of Information Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa that officials of the erstwhile NPP government especially the Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani carted away all the files in his office while exiting power , an action that the deputy minister has negatively affected the prosecution of certain cases by the government.
However the former Chief of Staff has strongly rubbished the allegation saying that it should be treated with the contempt that it deserves.
Speaking on e.tv Ghana’s Breakfast TV show, Hon. Emmanuel Bedzirah stated that if the supposed important files were to be stored electronically it would have been difficult for anyone to take away such sensitive information.
He bemoaned the poor records keeping and filing of document culture in most of the state agencies especially the ministries saying this can adversely affect governance in the country.
“You visit some offices in the public sector and you see leaflets which are important documents laying on tables, even some of the documents are soiled while others are torn, this is obviously unacceptable something must be done about this immediately.
Hon. Bedzirah added that in this modern day of technological advancement Ghana cannot lag behind and continue to move about huge volumes of papers which are important state documents.
