The Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North, Elizabeth Sackey, has presented an ambulance and medical equipment worth 25,000 Ghana Cedis to the Achimota Hospital.

The Hospital which was elevated to the district status two years ago needed another ambulance in addition to the only one that existed to deal with the ever increasing number of patients who attend the hospital, as it serves the entire constituency and other communities beyond such as Pokuase.

The Achimota Hospital for some time now has had to rely on the accident center in Airport for ambulances services to deal with emergency cases, a situation which on some occasions resulted in fatalities.

Speaking to ghanamps.gov.gh after the presentation, the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North, Elizabeth Sackey disclosed that she was moved to present an ambulance to the hospital after she witnessed the plight of two pregnant women who were in labor and in critical condition at the hospital and had to be referred to another hospital in a taxi.

She said the donation is expected to reduce fatalities which otherwise may be recorded at the hospital due to the absence of an ambulance.

Hon. Elizabeth Sackey, has also lighten up the hospital by installing a lot of street lights to improve upon the security situation in the area.

She added that she is committed to helping in the construction of the maternity block which is currently on going to serve people in and around the Okaikoi constituency.
