Junior High School students due for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Akim Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region are blessed to be supplied with new school uniforms to replace their tattered ones.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Alexander Akwesi Acquah through whose benevolence the school uniforms were procured and distributed to the students revealed he was touched by the poor state of the uniforms most of the students had on during their tour when the students wrote their mock exams.

According to him, though the students are only left with two weeks to write their final examination, confidence is an essential factor to ensuring the students give off their best at the exam, hence he decided to give them a new uniform to boost the confidence level of the students as it will take away the shyness associated with wearing thorn cloths to school.

Mr Akwesi Acquah has also decided to scale up the intervention by tasking teachers and headteachers to identify needy students whose uniforms are not in good shape so that they can also be helped to boost their confidence levels in school.

The MP affirmed that spending on education is one of the best investments anyone can undertake and should never be seen as waste of resources; and it explains why he has spent a lot in the education sector since becoming the Member of Parliament for the area, and he is not about slowing down anytime soon because his vision is to develop a high literate society in Akim Oda.

He used the opportunity to call on the students to use the remaining weeks to finanlise their preparations in order to come out with flying colours to progress to the senior high school.
