Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for running the country with fifty-six ministers instead of the sixty he promised during the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

According to him the Ghanaian public has been unhappy with the political class both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the past for appointing too many ministers and the NDC made a promise that they would not appoint more than sixty ministers; we have done so well that we have not even hit the sixty mark.

“And instead of the Minority pushing us to appoint more ministers, they should rather commend us for managing the numbers to a point that it appears we may not need the sixty. The president appears to be doing well even with fifty-six ministers”.

This came to light when the business statement was presented on the floor of the House on Friday and the Minority side enquired when the president would be making the remaining appointment he promised.

Mahama Ayariga further pointed out that the more the minority talk about the number of Ministers the president has appointed so far on the floor, the more Ghanaians would know that the president promised sixty and he has done well by not appointing more than sixty.

“And I am happy, “if every Friday when the House is sitting you mention it and I would encourage you to raise it every Friday, so that I would also remind Ghanaians we did not get to our numbers we promise, and I believe Ghanaians would want the numbers reduced”, he concluded.
