The management of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation is appealing to the government for an amount of GHC300 million as compensation for farmers and other property owners for the full acquisition of a 20,000-acre land at Jomoro in the Western Region for the hub.
The Corporation notes that although former President Akufo-Addo directed the release of GHC200 million for compensation, the amount was not captured in the 2024 Budget, causing delays in the establishment of the Petroleum Development Hub.
Speaking to journalists at a meeting between the Energy Committee of Parliament and agencies in the energy sector, the Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Dr. Toni Aubynn, stated that the establishment of the petrochemical enclave would be a significant project for Ghana.
