The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has further strengthened its majority in Parliament following a rerun in the Ablekuma North Constituency earlier this month. The rerun, held in 19 polling stations, came after the Electoral Commission (EC) nullified the original December 2024 parliamentary results due to reported irregularities.

The NDC’s candidate, Ewurabena Aubynn, emerged victorious in the tightly contested race, adding an additional seat to the party’s tally. This win pushes the NDC’s total confirmed seats in Parliament from 183 to 188, solidifying its commanding majority.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) now holds 87 seats, excluding one vacancy caused by the unfortunate passing of an MP from their side.

With this updated configuration, the NDC now enjoys a clear parliamentary advantage, which is expected to impact the legislative direction of the country significantly.
