Chairman of the Committee on Economy and Development Dr. Eric Affful said the Finance Minister Dr. Atto Forson would tomorrow Thursday, July 24, 2025, present a statement and government would not ask for more funds from where he sit.

According to him the government would ask for re-alignment of some key provisions in the approved 2025 budget because of the rigidity which means nothing can change in the budget in case of implementation.

But he was quick to point out in an interview that there is flexibility in which case the government can re-align some of the figures to where it thinks it is necessary.

This is a budget performance analysis; this government has appropriated an amount of two hundred and ninety-three billion cedis to expend on compensation on goods and services within Agencies, Department, Ministry and other government obligations. Ghanaians would want to know the amount given, what government has been able to do and how much it received. And how much has gone into expenditure promoting growth and development – that is what is going to happen tomorrow; is nothing new he affirmed.

“If it had come by motion them it means government would be asking for extra funds and with the statement, there would not be debate and members would have the opportunity to comment”.
