Ahead of the Finance Minister Dr. Atto Forson’s presentation of the mid-year budget review, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, the Member of Parliament for Akuapim North Samuel Awuku has said he does not think there would be anything new in the presentation by the finance minister – “the value would be the same”, he teased.
In an interview, he pointed out that President John Dramani Mahama and Dr. Atto Forson indicated that there would not be increases in fuel price at the pump with the introduction of the ‘dumsor demolishing’ levy.
But Ghanaians are the best judges in the wake of increases in fuel price at the pump. “No one would tell Ghanaians the reality they are feeling now”.
He expressed concern that the government is upbeat about the appreciation of the cedi against the dollar, and yet prices of goods and services remain the same in the market.
Again, the external shocks the Akuffo-Addo government faced the John Mahama government has not experienced it, he added.
