Immediate past Roads and Highways Minister Francis Asenso Boakye at a press conference in Parliament has pointed out that claims on projects undertaken by the previous government by the current sector Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza are misleading.

According to the Roads and Highways Minister the previous administration’s claim of constructing over ten thousand kilometers of roads is a “mirage” because he did not see them during his tours.

Reacting to these comments by the minister, former sector minister and Member for Bantama, Francis Asenso Boakye said Mr Agbodza’s claim “is not only disingenuous
but a gross attempt to politicize hard facts”.

He debunked the claims by the minister stating that it is a deliberate attempt to distort the facts.

“The recent comments made by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, during his press briefing, are not only misleading but reflect a worrying pattern of deliberate distortion and double standards”.

According to him, the erstwhile Akufo-Addo Government constructed a total of 13, 624 kilometres of roads between 2017 and 2024.

“Between 2017 and the end of 2024, the Akufo-Addo administration undertook road projects totaling 13,624 kilometers. This is in clear contrast to the 4,636 kilometers executed under the eight-year Mills–Mahama administration” Hon Asenso Boakye stated.

He explained that these 13,000+ kilometers comprise new constructions, asphalt overlays, graveling and re-graveling.

The rest are the reconstruction and partial reconstruction, the upgrading and rehabilitation works.
