Chairman of the Committee on Economy and Development Dr. Eric Afful has indicated that his Committee would have more engagements despite the fact that the House is on recess, adding that the Bank of Ghana is supposed to meet the committee twice in a year.

Speaking in an interview, he pointed out that the Bank has reported to them ones and they have had a lot of discussions about their operations and how they are using the resources of the Country judiciously.

In addition, they have met the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) with their programme outline for the year, with regards to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as the Metropolitan, Municipalities and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and documents of reports on 2024 are ready, and they are going to go into.

“We would ensure that they are done in respect of Public Financial Management Act and very soon we would meet with the MDAs and MMDAs and go through what they have in their annual reports”, he said.

Dr Afful further noted that the “big push” is a major policy of the John Mahama led administration coordinated programme done by NDPC for the entire four year mandate which would coast ten billion dollars for the term, but ten billion cedis has been given for the big push which is going into road construction.

Again, from next year 2026, the ‘big push’ would cover projects like health infrastructure and in addition pointed out that in this year’s mid-year budget review, the finance minister indicated some of the areas the big push on roads would affect.

As to whether work has commenced with regards to roads under the big push, he noted that commencement letters have been given to road contractors and very soon a lot of them would be seen on site.
