Madina Member of Parliament, Francis Xavier Sosu, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late MP for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure. The tribute came during a visit by the parliamentary caucus to the deceased’s home on the morning of Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Sosu recounted a period in 2021 when he faced prosecution by the Akufo-Addo-led government. The charges followed a demonstration he led against the poor state of roads in his constituency.
He detailed how authorities attempted to arrest him at a church service, a move from which he was initially shielded by MP Mohamed Muntaka Mubarak. Sosu was subsequently taken to Parliament House.
Fearing arrest, he then sought refuge at the home of his colleague, MP Yussif Issaka Jajah. With the assistance of then-Minority Chief Whip Kwame Agbodza, plans were made to secure his safety.
“That same night, I had to be flown out of the country,” Sosu stated. “It was the late MP Naser Toure who secured my ticket and ensured I could fly to America.”
