The Majority caucus in Ghana’s Ninth Parliament has called for the immediate cancellation of the recent National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries in the Ayawaso East constituency. The call follows widespread allegations of vote-buying that have circulated since the election in the Greater Accra Region.

In a statement signed by Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, the caucus said its core and extended leadership, after extensive deliberation, resolved to urge the party’s Functional Executive Committee to annul the primary results.

The caucus condemned the development, framing it as contrary to the broader agenda to reform and “reset” Ghanaian politics.

The statement further demanded that any candidate found to have engaged in unethical conduct, including vote-buying, should be disqualified from participating in any subsequent primaries held after the annulment.

“The NDC Majority caucus remains committed to restoring integrity to our politics,” the statement concluded.
