During a public hearing held by the Local Government Committee, concerns were raised that poor working relationships between some Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and their respective Members of Parliament are hindering development at the local level.
However, the Member of Parliament for Krachi West has offered a contrasting narrative, emphasizing her collaborative partnership with the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE).
In an interview, the lawmaker described their bond as familial and rooted in political teamwork. “I call him my son; he was part of my campaign team during the 2024 Parliamentary elections and is a hard-working person,” she stated.
She further elaborated on her role as a mentor, explaining that she holds him accountable to ensure effective governance. Citing a biblical principle, she noted, “The Bible says God disciplines those He loves. If he is not going the way he should go, I will not sit down and look on. I will ensure that I correct him. There shouldn’t be a problem when a mother is correcting her son. We are working as a team.”
The MP underscored that their unity translates into tangible action for the constituency. “As a team, we move together. When I go to the constituency, if I am not there, he is on the grounds,” she added.
