Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed has been officially sworn in as the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso East Constituency.

The ceremony took place in the Chamber on Tuesday, 10th March 2026, just as parliamentary proceedings commenced for the day.

Administered by Speaker Alban Bagbin, this marks the formal integration of Mr. Ahmed into the legislature, solidifying the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s majority in the House.

Following the oath, Speaker Bagbin formally presented the new MP with copies of the Constitution and the Standing Orders of Parliament.

In his remarks, the Speaker urged Mr. Ahmed to serve his constituents with diligence and transparency. He specifically called on the new lawmaker to focus on improving public health infrastructure and outcomes, particularly in the areas beyond Nima.

The new MP received cross-party well-wishes from leaders of both the Majority and Minority caucuses, who encouraged him to be a key advocate for developmental reforms in the constituency.
