The Member of Parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, has expressed optimism that significant progress will be made on key road projects in the constituency before the end of the year.

In an interview with Ghanamps.com, Mr. Bedzra outlined several ongoing and upcoming road developments aimed at improving travel across the area.

Multiple roads receiving attention

According to the MP, several routes are currently being worked on or are set to begin soon:
* The Abutia road from Sokode straight to Juapong is under construction.
* The road from Oseabora to Amesiamekope is also receiving attention.
* The Bame to Dzolokpuita road is expected to come on stream shortly.
“We want to do that this year,” Mr. Bedzra said.

He added that the contract for the road from Anfoeta to Tuziavi to Ho has been reviewed by the Roads Minister. “The minister told me they have reviewed the contract, and very soon the contractor will get to site,” he said.

Other routes mentioned include Bame to Sokode, and the MP noted the minister also assured him that the Bame–Dzolokpuita to Kpedze road will be worked on again.

Collapsed bridge to be replaced

The MP also addressed the collapsed bridge between Dzolokpuita and Akome on the Kpedze road, which currently forces travelers to use a bypass through Dodome.

“They have done the survey, they have done the estimate. They are yet to give the contract to the contractor,” Mr. Bedzra said. He expects the process to take no more than a month or two, as it involves an emergency steel bridge. “Because they will be expanding the road, we want to increase the width of the bridge or the culvert.”

Lobbying for more roads, including cocoa routes

Mr. Bedzra disclosed that he is also lobbying to get the Kpedze to Ashanti Kpoeta road completed.

“In fact, I have applied for about six different road areas, which the minister has minuted to Feeder Roads,” he said. He noted that Ghana is accessing some World Bank facilities, and one road that has seen no development since the NDC left power is the cocoa road from Kpedze–Todze down to Dodome and Dzolo.

“The contractor left site since NDC left power and the NPP decided not to work on it. That one will come on stream,” he added.

MP commits personal funds to new road

The MP said he is personally committing his Social Investment Fund (SIF) and common fund to develop a new road from Kpedze to Ashanti Kpoeta and Ashanti Akyim.

“I just released about 50,000 again for the rest of the culvert to be completed. This is not coming from government,” he explained.

The road runs through Kpoeta, breaking the mountain to Adorpe – a virgin area where farmers grow cocoa, coffee, shea, and spices.

“I have decided that after the road network we would extend electricity to the place because there is a school there. I am optimistic that by the end of this year, I will drive there,” Mr. Bedzra said.

He added that they are engineering the road and hopes government will come to their aid with additional support.
Creating a link to South Dayi communities.

The MP noted that three towns in his constituency are geographically situated within the South Dayi District, currently only accessible via Asikuma, Peki, or Kpeve.

“I want to create that link,” he said.
