A 50 megawatts solar power plant to boost rural electrification project is to take off soon in the Lawra Constituency.

The Solar Power plant when established would not just serve the Lawra Constituency but the entire Upper West and some communities in the Upper East Region too.

This came to light when the Deputy Minister for Roads and highways and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lawra Constituency in the Upper West Region Anthony Karbo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Lawra, Martin Bomba-Ire, and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong MP for Assin North Constituency met delegations from China to discuss setting up the solar plant.

Additionally, the deputy Minister Mr Karbo reiterated their readiness of dedicating 300 acres of land towards the project.

With the government’s industrialization policy of “one district, one factory policy” already in motion, the news comes a positive one because it will help provide the needed energy for industries to thrive.
