Ahead of the re-run of elections at 19 polling stations in the Ablekuma North Constituency as scheduled by the Electoral Commission following the disruption in the December 2024 parliamentary elections.
Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Vincent Ekow Assafuah has indicated that the NPP would ensure that only those who are supposed to vote at the designated polling stations do so.
According to him, they have gotten wind that the ruling National Democratic Congress, NDC would want to cause confusion but they would not engage in any violence.
Speaking in an interview, he revealed that in 2020 out of the 19 polling stations, NPP won 14, same in 2024.
Despite the NPP indicating it would not contest, the candidate Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie on her part says she would run in tomorrow’s rerun.
Of the 19 polling stations, in 2020 we won 14 of them, same thing in 2024, so we have majority of the people at the polling stations so I support the idea of the MP saying she would contest and the party should support her, he stated.
“I have spoken with her and I can see that she is in high spirit. She has some believe that what was done for her would be done again; its like a bye election, so NDC would look for all supports to do that”.
