The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Adenta, Kojo Adu Asare has said the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) needs to do more work to improve on its electoral fortunes as the December elections approach since the election of Dr Abu Sakara athe is Presidential candidate is not enough.
According to him, the CPP will need to undertake an efficient exercise at the grassroots to galvanize adequate political support to make the party a third force in Ghanaian politics and also enable the effectively compete with the two largest political parties, the NDC and NPP.
The Convention Peoples Party over the weekend at a national congress the Essipong Stadium at Secondi elected Dr Abu Sakara to lead the party into the December general elections which is expected to be keenly contested.
The CPP which is considered by some political analyst as the alternative to the NDC and NPP has performed abysmally in recent past elections; however the election of Dr Abu Sakara has been touted as an impetus and renaissance to the CPP’s drive to improve its performance at this year’s general elections.
But contributing to a discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show on Monday, Hon Kojo Adu- Asare stated that CPP must ensure its visible not only in the cities and big towns but also spend time with people in the hinterlands to sell to them the CPP’s programmes for improving the living conditions of Ghanaians.
He re-countered that during the just ended important biometric registration exercise during the recent biometric during which according to him he did not see any CPP part officials at most of the venues he visited.
Hon.Adu-Asare acknowledged that Dr Abu Sakara having been the running mate for the Party in the 2008 electing was very visible to most Ghanaians but requires an effective team to enable hi make an impact in the december with to help him.
