Voting has begun for voters in the Akatsi South Constituency of the Volta region, to elect a new Member of Parliament to represent them.
The seat became unoccupied after their MP Hon. Doe Adjaho resigned following his elevation to the high office of Speaker of Parliament.
Those contesting include the NDC’s Bernard Ahiafor, Evans Gadeto an independent candidate and the Progressive People Party’s Anthony Tsikata.
The opposition New Patriotic Party boycotted the election with the explanation that they are in court challenging results of the 2012 presidential elections and that their participation in the bye-election will be a contradiction of their stance.
