The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency, Hon. Quaittou Agyapong yesterday inaugurated a new power generating plant for the Akim Oda Nursing Training College to assist teaching and learning.

The generator which was procured at a cost of about GHs 34,000.00 secured about GHs 19, 000.00 from the MP’s own share of the common fund whereas GHs 15,000.00 was also secured from the school’s Students Representative Council (SRC) coffers.

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Quaittou Agyapong applauded the leadership of the school’s SRC for their commitment in resolving some of the schools numerous challenges and pledged his support.

He however advised students to grab the opportunity of their entry into the school and urged them to focus much attention on their studies to raise the school’s academic standard as a mean of attracting government and other corporate support.

According to him, the school could only attract necessary attention and support from government as well as corporate bodies if it is able elevate itself among others in terms of academics.

The MP also urged the schools administration to admit about 20 percent of qualified candidates from the constituency as he claimed happens in most parts of the country.

Meanwhile, other challenge such as the schools recent water crisis has been channeled onto his projects ladder for the year.
