It was a moment of sadness and reflection when the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, laid his special aide, Maxwell Kofi Nti, to rest.
The late Kofi Nti died on May 16, 2026, shortly after a tragic road crash while on one of his usual duties.
Fondly remembered, Mr. Akwasi Acquah regretted the loss of his aide, stating that Kofi Nti’s kind is hard to come by and that getting a replacement will not be an easy task.
He remembered Kofi for his integrity, loyalty, hard work, and faithfulness, among other qualities that set him apart from his peers.
The MP’s Tribute to his Aid
Akwasi Acquah who could not hide his grief, in his tribute to Kofi Nti, writes:
“The events of Saturday, 16th May, continue to raise serious questions in my mind and give real meaning to the popular saying, ‘If this is a dream, then somebody must wake me up.’ It is difficult to accept that Kofi Nti is no longer with us.”
“To most people, he was Kofi Nti, an affable, sociable and politically active young man. But to me, he was much more. He was a multi-talented young man who was not only part of my political journey but also became an important part of everything I stood for.
“I easily talked to him, and the few months we spent working together were remarkable. Our relationship grew beyond that of a politician and an aide. Kofi eventually became my Personal Assistant, a position he handled with remarkable dedication and competence, earning the admiration and respect of virtually everyone who dealt with him.
“Indeed, Kofi was the perfect liaison. He served in different capacities and always understood what was required of him. His communication skills were exceptional, and he had a unique ability to engage people, manage difficult situations and bring calm to tense moments. He could make the seemingly impossible look possible.
“Such was the confidence I had in Kofi that, when I needed someone to manage our community radio station, and later a second one, I looked no further than him. I appointed him General Manager in charge of both radio stations, a position he held until his unfortunate demise. He performed his duties with the same dedication, competence and sense of responsibility that had distinguished him throughout his service.
“What stood out most about Kofi was his commitment. When he believed in a cause, he gave it his all. He was dependable, resourceful and always ready to go the extra mile. His energy, enthusiasm and willingness to serve made him a trusted and highly valued member of the team.
“Beyond politics and official duties, Kofi was a warm and engaging person. He had a way of making people feel comfortable around him. His smile, his humour and his willingness to lend a hand will remain fond memories for those who had the privilege of knowing him closely.
“His passing has therefore left a void that is difficult to explain. It is not merely the loss of a Personal Assistant, a colleague, a political associate or a General Manager; it is the loss of a young man whose presence had become woven into an important chapter of my life.
“Kofi came into my life at a particular moment, served with distinction, and left an indelible mark. I remain deeply grateful for the time we shared, the work we did together, the challenges we faced and the many memories we created……..”
“As I struggle to come to terms with the reality of his passing, I can only say once again: If this is a dream, somebody please wake me up.
“Rest peacefully, Kofi Nti. Your journey may have ended far too soon, but your contribution, your kindness and the memories you left behind will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.”
