It was a humourous moment in parliament on Thursday when the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda dressed like an Indian to the House.

This was during the visit of the Prime Minister of India to the Parliament of Ghana where he addressed the House and assured of a stronger ties between the two countries for accelerated socio-economic development.

But after the address colleague MPs to Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah in their typical teasing fashion made sure the unique dressing of the Oda MP did not go unnoticed as they drew the Speaker’s attention for him to be properly acknowledged, and the Speaker ceased the opportunity to do just that.

The Speaker joked that the MP was eager to visit India based on his dressing, and assured him that he (Speaker) would not hesitate to grant him the permission when the opportunity comes.

The development signifies one of the light- moments in parliament and underpins the level of friendship and cohesion in the House.

Meanwhile, Mr Akwasi Acquah in an interview stated that his choice of dressing was

to make the Prime Minister very comfortable, to feel at home and to let him know that we have a very good relationship with India.

He also expressed the desire to see an Indian dressed in Kente the next time a Ghanaian President visits India.
