The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North Constituency, Hon. Samuel Ambre has led a team to distribute about 1,000 exercise books to pupils in some selected Junior High Schools (JHS) as part of efforts to improve teaching and learning in the area.

Beneficiaries include the Assin Aguaa MA, Akomfudi and Gold Coast MA Junior High Schools.

The MP, who is a teacher by profession, stated when speaking in an interview with GhanaMPs.gov.gh that, the distribution very essential as some children went to school without books to do their exercises which in effect contributes to the poor performance of students who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).

Hon. Samuel Ambre also charged teachers and parents to ensure that children used their exercise books wisely, and further pledged his constant support for basic education in the area.

The soft-spoken MP further advised parents to focus much attention on their children’s education and make it a priority after urging students to grab the many opportunities from governments and stakeholders in bettering their education.

He also revealed that plans were far advance to construct new bungalows to accommodate teachers in the area.
