The embattled Assin North Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has been leveled with new charges few hours after an Accra Human Rights Court granted him bail with two sureties in the sum of GH¢ 200,000 on Thursday.

He faces a new charge of causing fear and panic aside the initial charge of treason.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker has been in police custody since Monday after a move to have him released on bail on Wednesday was unsuccessful.

The judge on Thursday morning ordered for his release on health grounds. The lawmaker is reported to have high blood pressure following his detention.

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong was arrested subsequent to his inflammatory and inciting comments urging Ashantes to attack Ewes and Gas in an interview on his own radio station Oman FM in Accra.
