The NPP Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, has claimed innocence about his allegations that he is behind accusations leveled against the Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin II for allegedly condoning illegal mining in the Akyem State.

According to him, it would be preposterous for anyone to accuse him of being behind the unsubstantiated allegation against the Okyehene, a man that he supported to become the King of Akyem Abuakwa.

The MP was fingered for being behind the plot to tarnish the image of Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori after some men suspected to be coming from the Okyehene’s Palace accosted the convoy in which the MP together with the Abuakwa South Constituency secretary were travelling.

Yet speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on Monday, Mr. Akyea confirmed that a vehicle in front of his was attacked over the weekend but managed to escape unhurt from the angry youth.

He stated that he had been wrongly accused, adding that the allegations against the Okyehene are regrettable which shouldn’t be trumpeted.

Hon. Atta Akyea noted that he is a royal himself who owes allegiance to the Ofori Panyin’s stool and would not do anything to bring the name of the Okyehene and the stool into disrepute, wondering why there is a grand attempt to drug his name into the controversy.
