The Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyepong has described the Founder of the International Gods Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, as a fake pastor who deserves to be publicly flogged as was done in the Rawlings PNDC era.
He said harsh punishment such as what prevailed in the military regimes must be reintroduced to deal with fake pastors who take advantage of unsuspecting followers.
The MP who in recent times has severally criticized pastors expressed his disgust over Bishop Obinim storming the studios of Hot FM in Accra on Monday in protest of a discussion on his infidelity with the wife of one of his associate pastors and in the process vandalizing property of the station.
He is said to have attacked a number of persons including host of the programme, Barimah Kwame Ntim and guests but was prevented from doing any more harm when the Adabraka Police was called in to maintain order.
Bishop Obinim has also publicly confessed to (spiritually) crippling and damaging the brains of the baby of the woman he had an affair with, when he used his hands to touch the head and legs of the baby who is a year and half old.
Speaking on Adom FM on Thursday, the Member of Parliament Assin North Kennedy Agyepong who condemned the conduct of Bishop Obinim, was beside himself with shock to hear a supposed man of God being so callous.
” What wrong has this innocent baby done to this pastor, if you have any issues deal with the baby’s mum who you believe is out there to tarnish your reputation and not the baby for christ sake”
Kennedy Agyepong noted that ruthless measures must be taken against such charlatans who take advantage of ordinary people all in the name of solving their problems for them spiritually.
“How on earth can such a person call himself a man of God when he can be this callous, because of democracy people like this can go about doing what they want, I sometimes wish we could revisit the Rawlings PNDC era where people were beaten for misbehaving, this man would have been severely dealt with’’ he fumed.
Hon. Kennedy Ayepong called for Bishop Obinim to be severely punished to serve as a deterrent to such criminals who under the guise of being pastors cheat people.
