Mr Dan Botwe, Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere, on Friday, donated five computers and accessories to the Awukugua Junior High School (JHS) to help improve teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The presentation was in fulfillment of a promise he made during a durbar of chiefs and people of Awukugua to climax the 2013 Ohum Festival.
Presenting the computers to the school on Friday at Awukugua, Mr Botwe reiterated his commitment to support education by ensuring that resources are provided to all, especially brilliant but needy students.
He said education had been a priority in his programmes since he became a MP and urged both teachers and students to make good use of the computers to upgrade their knowledge in ICT studies.
Mr Botwe said two ICT centres for Adukrom and Awukugua communities have been completed and would soon be handed over, in addition to other development projects, in the education sector.
The MP said he had been inspired to raise the standard of education in his consistency and beyond and emphasized that, ICT now plays an integral role in the development of every country, and that, learning IT was one of his topmost priorities, as far as education was concerned.
Mr Botwe also promised to provide ceilings and roofing sheets for the newly constructed school canteen, as well as donate GH¢ 200 to support the activities of the Parents Teacher Association (PTA).
Mr Dickson Appiah, Headmaster of Awukugua Junior High School, thanked the MP for supporting the school and his efforts at promoting education in the constituency.
