Deputy Ranking on the Committee of Information and Communications, Charles Asuako Owiredu has taken a swipe at the Minister of Communication, Digitalization and Innovation Samuel Nartey George for behaving like the President of the United State Donald Trump, by issuing ultimatum on Multichoice (DSTV) on his price reduce crusade instead of negotiating to achieve results.

According to him the Minister should learn from President John Dramani Mahama who is humble and even appointed him to serve Ghanaians. “You are a Minister, you cannot be issuing ultimatum and threats, and whiles you do that private businesses who want to come to this country would be alarmed; what kind of system do these people have in Ghana? They would question, he said.

In an interview after his press conference on the DSTV and Sam George brouhaha, he noted that when you speak to other ministers, they have issues with private companies working in Ghana but they do that behind closed doors and example is the mining companies.

He believes that the issue is better left alone as the Minister seems to be doing free advert for DSTV as evident on Google; stating that a search on Google about DSTV is all about the Minister for the past months.

He admitted that the price of subscription is indeed high in Ghana, but stated that since DSTV’s justification for the high prices is about taxes, if the Minister is indeed interested in reducing prices then some attention should be paid to the tax component and possible reduction after which DSTV can be compelled to reduce their prices.

They called on the Minister to resign or be sacked for by the President since he is not fit for the job as according to the Minority the Minister has failed and come across as arrogant and disrespectful.
