The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has been lauded for sponsoring mock examination for candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The Ellembelle District Director of Education, Madam Dinah Caroline Gyimah, commended the MP on his third time of sponsoring BECE candidates in the Ellembelle District since he assumed office in January 2009.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Nkroful, Madam Gyimah said prior to the MP’s intervention, BECE candidates performed abysmally but the results had improved since Mr. Buah started sponsoring mock examination for the candidates.

She said the District recorded 68% in the 2010 BECE results and improved in the 2011 score to 76% being, one of the best so far.

Madam Gyimah appealed to the MP to continue this intervention since no NGO had ever come to the aid of BECE candidates in the area.

In an interview with the GNA, Mr. Buah, said education would continue to be his major priority and would do his best to improve the standard of education in the area.

Mr. Buah appealed to students in the area to study hard and take advantage of the emerging opportunities in the oil and gas industry in the region.
