The MP for Ellembelle, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has renewed his avowed commitment to good quality education delivery to accelerate the pace of development in the area.
To this end, he has entreated teachers to imbue school children with the kind of education which fosters critical thinking and research work which can offer solutions to problems in everyday life.
Mr. Buah, who is also the Minister for Energy and Petroleum Resources, made the statement at the grand finale of the Ellembelle Inter-Circuit Quiz competition for Basic Schools at the Bonzo Kaku Senior High School (BOKASS) at Awiebo.
The competition which started about a week and half ago, was on the theme “Development Through Education”, was organized by the office of the MP in collaboration with the District Education Directorate and sponsored by Mr. Kofi Buah.
Out of the six circuits which participated in the competition, the Esiama circuit emerged first with 37 points in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science with the Nkroful circuit scoring 36 points as second runner-up and Aiyinase-South placing third with 33 points.
For their prizes, the first circuit received GH¢ 500, books and certificates with the second taking home GH¢ 300, books and certificates and the third also receiving GH¢ 200, books and certificates.
Mr.Buah said in the education arena, the District is seriously in competition with the rest of students in the country to produce the best cream of intelligentsia to push forward development in the area.
He said the Ellembelle Youth Project initiated recently is strategic as it will yield intellectuals of diverse backgrounds to contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation.
The Minister for Energy and Petroleum Resource thanked the District Education Directorate for their support and urged school children to learn in order to excel in their chosen career.
Earlier on, the District Director of Education, Rev (Mrs.) Elizabeth Akuoku lauded the MP’s initiative to organize quiz competitions to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
She thanked the MP once again for his giant strides in the pursuit of good quality education delivery especially with the distribution of junior graphic newspapers to school children.
Rev. Akuoku advised parents to supervise their wards to study and do more research work at home.
