Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie has said Ghana risk electing a drug baron as President if the menace of drug trafficking is not effectively tackled.

According to him, drug traffickers have infiltrated all spheres of society and professions and that it would not be far fetched if one should make such conclusions.

The MP was commenting on Asempa Fm’s Eko sii sen show on Wednesday over the arrest of the former Airport Security chief, Solomon Adelaquaye for drug trafficking in the United States of America.

He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Sohin Security, the company contracted to ensure security at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

Hon. Tetteh Chaie lauded the collaborative efforts of the security agencies that resulted in this arrest. He stated that the issue of drug trafficking was very serious and must be tackled as a national concern and not politicized.

The MP commended government for its continues commitment to fighting the drug menace and also cancelling the contract with the said security company.
