Tension is gradually mounting up in Kasoa (Odukpongkpehe) and its surrounding communities following the demolition of billboards belonging to the MP for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson by the Gomoa East District Chief Executive, Jehu-Appiah Jonamoah Moses.
The campaign billboards of the MP were said to have been erected on Gomoa East lands, thereby, provoking the DCE to order for their removal.
Jehu-Appiah, Kasapafmonline.com has learnt, was furious about the growing number of billboards belonging to people in Awutu Senya East but have been erected in his jurisdiction, claiming that “people have been using such strategy to steal Gomoa East lands”.
But his action did not escape the MP and her assigns.Bill
Kasapa 102.3 FM News’ Maame Broni who has been following the event reports that some youth said to be in the camp of Hon. Hawa Koomson who were incensed by the action of Jehu-Appiah mobilized and stormed the offices of Gomoa East District Assembly to demand answers.
The group, according to Broni, chained the DCE’s vehicle to theirs upon entering the premises of the Assembly to prevent him from escaping from being questioned over his action.
Broni further reports that the DCE is said to have once insulted the Awutu Senya East legislator at a sod cutting ceremony by President John Dramani Mahama for refusing to acknowledge the numerous projects the NDC has initiated in her jurisdiction.
All efforts to reach the DCE in person for his side of the story, according to our reporter, have proved futile.
However, he told Broni in a telephone conversation that he has every right to initiate measures that are aimed at protecting the Gomoa East Lands.
“The land is mine and I owe no one an explanation on anything I do. I’m not here to work for you the press and I won’t see you”, he said angrily.
Meanwhile, Hon. Hawa Koomson responding to the issue said she had expected the DCE to have engaged her prior to removing her billboards.
“As courtesy demands, he should have gotten in touch and inform me that this is what he intends to do and if I don’t comply, then he can go ahead to demolish my billboards. However, since he has decided to do things the ways he wants, I can assure him that I am ready to match him boot for boot”, she noted.
