The Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Alex Markin has backed calls by the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) for a Commission of enquiry to be set up to probe all projects under the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA).

The GII has urged the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAG) to investigate operations of SADA to ensure accountability.

Mr. Markin first raised concerns of alleged shady deals in ongoing projects under the supervision of SADA and he told Citi News, government should take practical steps to prevent government from incurring avoidable future debts.

“Are we spending rightly? Are we getting value for money? Government ought to be proactive; come out and get SADA to respond to these things once and for all,” hje questioned

He advised government not to be “dodgy dodgy and at the end of the day, when it gets out of hand, you can’t help it.”

Mr. Markin insisted, “it is about the dignity, credibility and the integrity of government.”

The Effutu MP noted that it was imperative for the Chief Executive Officer of SADA to be accountable to Ghanaians about ongoing projects under his watch.

“If you are entrusted with public funds…it is important for you to account especially so when you say you are making investments…because so far, there seems not to be any beneficiaries of their projects.”
