One of the five flagbearer aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Addai Nimo has told Citi News that he would consider his options before announcing a final decision to participate in the party’s October 18 congress.
Another contestant Joe Ghartey’s announced on Monday quitting the race despite making the list of top five contestants.
Addai Nimo in an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show said: “I would also need to do a lot of consultations…this is a project and I also need to engage my coordinators, I need to engage my team to sit and analyze the results and see the evaluation assessment…I need to do a broad consultation before any decision will be taken.”
Addai Nimo, the Member of Parliament for Mampong in the Ashanti Region polled 22 votes in Sunday’s Super Delegates Congress, representing 7% of total votes cast.
He indicated that his performance came as no surprise because he worked hard to win over the delegates.
“I was confident before the elections. I was confident that I will definitely emerge to be one of the five and so it gives me the encouragement that yes, interacting with the delegates nationwide has paid off,” he said.
According to him, he views his presidential aspirations as a project “and so Francis Addai Nimo 2016 presidency project is ongoing.”
The Mampong legislator acknowledged that the prospects of all the contestants will be analyzed ahead of the October 18 congress but he is certain he will make his mark.
Following Joe Ghartey’s decision, this means, only four candidates, Nana Akufo-Addo, Alan Kyeremanten, Francis Addai Nimo and Osei Ameyaw are in the contest for now.
Francis Addai Nimo, has said the outcome of Sunday’s Super Delegates Congress signifies a bright future for his presidential ambitions.
“I have been so much encouraged by turnout of events and many have congratulated me for my efforts and that means the future is so bright,” he remarked.
