Former Trade and Industry Minister, Kobina Tahir Hammond, popularly known as K.T. Hammond, has threatened to initiate legal action against the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and the Auditor-General over a report he claims wrongfully implicates him in financial malfeasance.

In a phone interview with Kwabena Ahwireng Martin, Mr. Hammond vehemently denied any wrongdoing during his tenure as minister, dismissing the allegations as “palpable falsehoods.”

The former minister expressed strong concerns over what he termed a lack of procedural fairness, stating he was not given the opportunity to respond to the claims before the report was made public.

“It is untrue that I have embezzled such money. I should have been allowed to understand what is going on and have my side heard before the report was published,” he said.

Mr. Hammond is now demanding a retraction and an apology, asserting that the allegations—reportedly involving an amount of GH¢29 million—have damaged his hard-earned reputation.

“They should be ready to meet me in court. You don’t make such claims lightly,” he warned.

Citing his 24 years of service in Parliament, the former minister maintained that his record has never been tainted by wrongdoing and vowed to challenge the claims in court to clear his name.
