Leader of Government Business, Mahama Ayariga has admonished the House to invest in studying the Standing Orders that in order to prevent the unnecessary ranchos that erupt on the floor of the House from time to time.
According to him there are some senior members on the floor that the first timers can learn from like the Interior Minister, Education and Agriculture Minister among others.
“Every single morning or afternoon I entered the chamber, I still take my time to check the rules before I make any move, even when the back bench is trying to do something I know I have to defend them.
So, I would quickly glance through the rules; sometimes when you see me looking at my phone, I have made an electronic copy of the standing orders, I am busy looking at it so that when something is not going well I can check.
The problem is that we are not investing in the rules, if we do many of the problems in the chamber we are confronted with would not arise, people would know under what circumstance a statement should be made no matter how urgent it is, he added.
