Constituents of Jomoro on Thursday, September 2, 2021 had the opportunity to benefit from free surgery at St. Martin de Porres Hospital at Eikwe in the Ellembelle constituency.
Persons mostly elderly people were bussed by the Member of Parliament for Jomoro to the health facility to undertake their surgery.
Madam Dorcas A. Toffey, on Thursday, September 2, 2021 after participating in the demonstration against the prolonged closure of the country’s land borders moved from Elubo straight to the hospital to observe how the surgery she had paid for, for her constituents had gone.
On her arrival at the hospital, the medical officer in charge pointed out to her that he was expecting larger numbers like three hundred from Jomoro but as at 5:00pm only 64 had shown up out of the 300.
The MP noted that she had to participate in a demonstration otherwise she would have gone round herself to urge her constituents to come out in their numbers to undertake the surgery.
And promise to ensure that on Friday, September 3,2021 she would ensure that those listed to benefit from the surgery would make it to the hospital as she went round to observe the level of work done on Thursday.
An eye screening was carried out in the Jomoro constituency that detected that mostly the elderly within the constituency had eye problem some needed surgery whiles others needed eye drops.
