Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda and Deputy Minority whip, Ahmed Ibrahim has praised the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and the Parliamentary Training Institute for building the capacity of 30 Journalist in Parliament.

He further noted that, when Parliament has a well informed and trained media practitioners, they will bring to the door step of Ghanaians workings of Parliament and MPs for Ghanaians to appreciate workings of the House.

And added that the media should not be a fault finding body but help to build a nation for its prosperity.

“Let us collaborate and have constructive criticism MPs who had sleep of tongue and the information got out there none of them survive to come back to the House”.

He pointed out that what the media puts out in the public domain, for the electorates and grass root is the “gospel truth hence the need to build the capacity of the media”.

According to the Banda legislator, attrition in Parliament in the 2016 election was high as 50 percent, hence the need for Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to build the capacity of new MPs and the experience and long serving MPs mentor new MPs.

The Deputy Minority whip was quick to point out a reportage within the week, where the media in Parliament put out that only 7 MPs reported to work, but it turns out that the situation was due to changes in starting time of Parliamentary proceedings from previous midday to 10am.

Later in the day more MPs joined sitting of the House and close at 8:00pm but was not reported by the media.
