Residents of Okyinso and Krobo in the Kwaebibirem District in the Eastern Region can breath sigh of relief following the completion of construction of bridge over the Birim River to link the two communities.
The project which is estimated at about GHs20, 000 was pre-financed by the Member of Parliament for Kade, Mr. Asamoah Ofosu. According to him, though the project was scheduled to be financed through common fund, he could wait to see the people suffer and had to intervene to ensure early completion. He noted a delay in the release of common fund was seriously affecting work putting residents through so much stress with transportation.
the collapse of the bridge had been a major source of worry to motorists and the communities as well as surrounding areas since they were unable to cross to either sides a situation that was negatively impacting on economic activities as well as social lives of the people. Thus the quick intervention of the MP was to restore these shortfalls.
The MP noted that completion of the bridge could not have been at any better time than this as the rains have started.”But for the early completion of the bridge life would have been worse for residents in the area at this time.
