The Member of Parliament for Asokwa Maxwell Kofi Jumah says the Electoral Commission (EC) is to blame for the apathetic behavior by some people who are yet to register in the ongoing national biometric registration exercise especially in Accra

According to him, the EC should have ensured the creation of more registration centers at polling stations with high number of voters to ensure that the registration process which drags a bit is made much faster.

A visit by ghanamps.gov.gh to some registration centers in the Okaikoi North constituency revealed that since the registration exercise started on Saturday 24th March 2012, potential voters come to the centers at dawn to enable them register early so they can attend to their own businesses, but the slow pace of the registration exercise has discouraged a lot of people from waiting in those long queue for hours.

However speaking to ghanamps.gov.gh on his assessment of the ongoing exercise in his constituency, Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah stated that the exercise has been generally smooth apart from some hitches in the first two days of the exercise.

He said he has been moving round his constituency to educate people belonging on both sides of the political divide to ensure a successful exercise.

“Even though I’ll not be contesting in the upcoming parliamentary election, I’m doing my work as an MP for the love of my party and the fact that I want to see the NPP party being voted back into power to continue with the development of Ghana’’ Kofi Jumah said.
