Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu has said the late Lee Ocran was a real social democrat within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), when the family called on the Speaker to announce funeral arrangement.
According to the Tamale South lawmaker, the late former Ellembele lawmaker was among the few NDC members who would never compromise the ideals and values of the social democracy for political expediency.
He further pointed out that the late Lee Ocran was a statesman who served Ghana well, as a Minister, Member of Parliament (MP) and a diplomat.
“I am just working on a tribute for him in which he said, “you this small boys”, “you this small boys”, he was referring to us the young once in NDC to share with us the ideals of social democracy”.
“Mr. Speaker is assisting for the best request, for the state to assist with burial, I have seen formal correspondent to that and I should let the family recognize that you are extending that to him as much as possible. I hope some of us who would stay behind would go by the values he held social democrat in the NDC”
