
The Minority in parliament has called on the government to ensure the gains made by the appreciation of the cedi is felt by the citizens.
Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei speaking at the Leaders’ Media Briefing in parliament asserts that everybody is happy that the cedi has become very strong, the exchange rate is coming down; but wondered what effects these have been on the ordinary Ghanaian in terms of the cost of living.
She thus urged the government to institute steps to ensure that the appreciation of the cedi against the dollar and other currencies would have a reflection on the cost of living in the country.
Still on the economy, the Deputy Minority Leader, expressed worry about the electricity crisis currently being experienced in the country and its implications on businesses.
She asserts that the return of the erratic power supply is something that bothers Ghanaians, adding that the sector Minister’s promise to solve the problem in the shortest possible time has so far not yielded result.
She thus urged the Minister and the government to do all they can to bring back the light for businesses to thrive.
