The Afadzato South District Assembly has been directed to re-submit a properly written report to the Committee on Local Government and Rural Development for consideration within one week.
Taking their turn at the Committee’s public hearing of annual audit statements of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies, the Afadzato South Assembly came under serious scrutiny with regard to the implementation of recommendations contained in it.
The committee was also not pleased with the way and manner the report was put together as it falls below standard.
A member of the Committee even had reason to accused the person who put the report together as lacking the requisite knowledge to handle such assignment as answers provided during the hearing do not reflect what was contained in the report.
For instance, legacy projects that were said to have been fully completed per the report, the team told the committee contractors were now mobilizing to site to complete them.
On the issue of governance, the relationship between the district Chief executive And the MP featured prominently as answers provided by the DCE point to a lack of collaboration between the two arrow heads of the district.
It came out that not only was the MP not consulted in decision making with regard to project selection and where they should be sited, but he has also not been invited to the only general assembly meeting held so far this year.
The committee thus suspects a deliberate attempt to undermine the role of the MP as a member of the assembly with oversight responsibility.
