Volta and Oti regions are expected to experience improved electricity supply as the Ministry has instituted measures to solve the low voltage and erratic power supply in the two regions.
The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor disclosed this when he appeared before the Committee of Energy on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 to brief and answer questions from members of the committee.
He said the President, John Dramani Mahama has approved the Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson should work with the Energy Ministry so that they can strengthen the lines to address the challenge.
“The only procurement I have approved for ECG is to procure transformers from within Ghana and inject them in the distribution system”
He opined that improved generation without a resilient distribution system, there is bound to be outages; “and what the consumer wants is electricity. They don’t know whether it’s generation, transmission or distribution, so ECG is working on that”.
According to him , if they are able to change the current transmission lines with the needed sub-stations to boost the system everything will return to normal.
